“Semua Bisa Kerja” or “Everything Can Work” is a social movement initiated by the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Rusdy Mastura. Through this initiative, the Governor encourages all stakeholders to work together to develop the province, including inviting and encouraging foreign partners to collaborate towards these initiatives.
As part of this, PT Pembangunan Sulteng invited Seven Stones Indonesia, represented by Managing Director, Mr. Per Fredik Ecker, who is also Chairman of the Indonesia Norway Business Council, to conduct a working visit to the Palu Special Economic Zone on Thursday, 9 December 2021.
The Palu Special Economic Zone is one of 15 (fifteen) Special Economic Zones (KEK) in Indonesia, which are part of the government’s National Priority Development Agenda. KEK’s are areas with accessibility to global markets (with sea and airport access) and are designed to maximize industrial activities, exports, imports and other related interests which have high economic value.
According to The Ministry of Investment/ BKPM Indonesia’s KEK’s have been created to:
- Improve people’s productivity and competitiveness in international market places
- Strengthen the framework of a unitary state of Indonesia through alleviating uneven regional development
- Improve Indonesia’s value-added and value chains through down-streaming industrialization
- Increase outer island competitiveness as an investment destination, through regional infrastructure development
The Palu KEK is located in the district of Tawaeli, 20-kilometres northeast of the Kota Palu municipal office, close to Pantoloan Port, and is connected to adjacent cities through the Trans-Sulawesi Highway.
The main functions of the Palu KEK are port logistics, public businesses, industry, residential, commercial, culture and welfare.
Seven Stones Indonesia has indicated its interest in working together with local stakeholders in Palu on a number of potential projects, especially in the Palu KEK, which they see as having great potential largely because of its strategic location in the country and as a gateway to world logistics.
