Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung highlighted that large-scale music events have provided a significant boost to the capital’s economic circulation.
Two major events held from September 25–27—the Pestapora music festival and The Weeknd’s concert—generated nearly IDR 250 billion (around USD 13.8 million) in economic activity.
“I received reports that over the two days of Pestapora and The Weeknd, nearly IDR 250 billion moved through Jakarta’s economy. That’s a very substantial impact for the city,” Pramono stated during a press conference in Central Jakarta, on Monday (Sept 28, 2026).
He added that the economic momentum driven by concerts and music festivals reinforces Jakarta’s position as a global city. The arrival of international artists serves as a clear indicator of growing confidence in the capital as a world-class venue for major events.
A More Vibrant Jakarta
Pramono shared that this positive momentum was also acknowledged during his meeting with the Dean of New York University in New York.
He pointed to several high-profile names scheduled to perform in Jakarta, ranging from Ye and The Weeknd to Westlife and Andrea Bocelli.
“Westlife is performing exclusively in Jakarta on January 23. The same goes for Ye—their only stop in Southeast Asia is right here in Jakarta. This makes the city so much more vibrant,” Pramono added.
He noted that as more global artists choose Jakarta for their shows, it demonstrates the capital’s capacity to host international events of this scale.
The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour ran for two days on September 26 and 27, 2026, at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).
Meanwhile, the Pestapora 2026 festival took place from September 25 to 27 at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, featuring around 330 acts across 19 stages.
