Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration recorded a 74.8% increase in administrative enforcement actions between January and September 2026, with 17,597 measures imposed on foreign nationals for immigration violations nationwide.
Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said the figure rose sharply from 10,065 actions during the same period in 2025.
He attributed the stronger enforcement results partly to expanded digital monitoring tools, including the Foreign National Reporting Application, the Subject of Interest system, and the Immigration Enforcement Application for Refugees.
“Digitalising immigration monitoring ensures that our data is accurate, up to date, and actionable. With supporting technology and officers who uphold integrity, we can carry out more targeted monitoring,” Hendarsam said on Monday, October 19, 2026.
Stay Permit Cancellations and Deportations
Stay permit cancellations and deportations accounted for the largest shares of the 17,597 immigration administrative actions recorded during the first nine months of 2026.
The breakdown included:
▪️ Stay permit cancellations: 5,310, up from 1,865 in the same period of 2025.
▪️ Deportations: 5,310, compared with 3,062 a year earlier.
▪️ Proposed entry bans: 3,950, up from 1,452.
▪️ Immigration detention: 3,022, compared with 2,652.

For comparison, the 2025 total also included 986 combined deportation and proposed entry-ban actions, along with 35 measures involving restrictions, changes, or cancellations of stay permits.
Criminal Immigration Cases Involve 89 Suspects
Beyond administrative sanctions, the Directorate General of Immigration also pursued alleged criminal immigration offences.

Of those suspects:
▪️ 62 remained under investigation.

▪️ Seven had received final and binding court judgments.
Malaysian nationals accounted for the largest number of suspects, at 34. They were followed by Chinese nationals with 20, Pakistani nationals with 10, Bangladeshi nationals with nine, and Philippine nationals with five.
