Indonesia’s leading art fair, Art Jakarta, will return on October 2-4, 2026, at JIExpo Kemayoran in Central Jakarta.
Complementing its two other flagship programs, Art Jakarta Papers and Art Jakarta Gardens, the main fair continues its commitment to showcasing contemporary art from across Southeast Asia.
This year, Art Jakarta will feature 75 galleries, including more than 40 Indonesian galleries, 33 international galleries, and 19 first-time participants.
The strong participation reflects both the growing enthusiasm and the rapid development of the region’s art scene, which continues to accompany each edition of Art Jakarta.
“Art Jakarta has grown into one of the most dynamic art fairs in Southeast Asia. To support the continuously evolving art ecosystem, Art Jakarta is now held three times a year through Art Jakarta Papers, Art Jakarta Gardens, and the Art Jakarta International Art Fair,” said Enin Supriyanto, Artistic Director of Art Jakarta, in a written statement.
From Contemporary Art to Korean Focus
In its second year under the expanded format, Art Jakarta will once again present a diverse lineup of exhibitions featuring works by Indonesian and international artists.
Among the highlights is “Cable Forest,” an installation by artist Agnes Hansella created from discarded electrical cables. Visitors can also explore works presented by Natta-Cita Art Space from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Bali, showcasing contemporary Balinese art.
Visitors should also look out for Korea Focus, a special exhibition organized through a collaboration between the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Management Service, featuring 14 galleries from South Korea.
On the music front, SUPERMUSIC will present winners of the ART MEETS MUSIC competition.
The competition challenged participants to interpret the energy, gestures, and lifestyle of the music scene, rather than simply portraying musical genres or artists in a literal way.
Together, these programs offer a comprehensive snapshot of Indonesia’s contemporary art landscape.
