According to the website of The President of The Republic of Indonesia, President Prabowo Subianto, who attended the Peak Commemoration of National Teachers’ Day held at the Jakarta International Velodrome, on Thursday (28/11/24,) stressed that education is the main priority of his government, with the largest APBN allocation in Indonesian history.
“We put education number one in our APBN. And I think it’s no joke, for the first time in Indonesian history, the allocation of education in the 2025 APBN is the highest in the history of the Republic of Indonesia,” said President Prabowo.
President Prabowo also explained that the budget allocation reflects the government’s attention to the education sector. The budget will be used to improve teacher welfare, improve education infrastructure, and support innovative programs.
“We are determined that every rupiah belonging to the Indonesian people must be enjoyed by the Indonesian people,” said the President.
As a concrete step, the government has allocated IDR 81.6 trillion to improve teacher welfare, including one basic salary for ASN teachers and a professional allowance of IDR 2 million per month for non-ASN teachers. In addition, the government has also budgeted IDR 17.15 trillion for the rehabilitation of 10,440 public and private schools by 2025.
“Schools, in my belief, are the center of national development. Therefore, schools must be good, must be clean, must be good, there must be no schools whose roofs have collapsed, there must be no schools that do not have toilets for their children,” said the President.
The President also announced plans to install sophisticated televisions in all schools to support equal access to education. Through this technology, students in remote areas are expected to be able to receive high-quality lessons.
“I ask for patience, please wait approximately 3 to 4 more months,” said the President.
The President also emphasized the importance of hard work and collaboration to improve the quality of education. The President also invited all parties, including teachers, to believe in the government’s commitment.
“I have invited all ministers, all deputy ministers, all director generals, all leaders, I invite them now seriously, we must fight, work as hard as possible for the interests of our people,” said the President.
