Semarang Prepares for 10K Race, Targeting 2,500 Runners this December 2024

 

The annual Semarang 10K is set to come back this December 15th, 2024, bringing together the Semarang City Government and Kompas in a collaborative effort. Organizers aim to attract 2500 runners from across Indonesia and people from around the world for the exciting event.

“On December 15, the Semarang City Government will hold the annual Semarang 10K in collaboration with Kompas. We hope the community can participate,” said The mayor of Semarang, Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu, at the UFORUN 2024 Sunday, as reported by semarangkota.go.id

Hevearita also expressed her gratitude toward the international organizing committee, which has agreed to increase the number of participants this year to 2,500 from 2,100 last year.

“Alhamdulillah, we received approval from the international organizing committee for a quota of 2,500 participants. All the requirements needed for the Semarang 10K have been met, ensuring that runners can participate safely.” Said Hevearita

 The influx of visitors, both local and international, will drive economic growth while also positioning Semarang as a sports tourism destination.

With strong planning by the Semarang City Government and Kompas, the Semarang 10K promises to uplift local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and shops, and strengthen Semarang’s profile as a vibrant, tourism-friendly city.

“With thorough preparation, we want this year’s Semarang 10K to be more lively and to boost the local economy,”  Hevearita said, as reported by kompas.com

 

 

Semarang 10K 2023: A Look Back

The 2023 Semarang 10K powered by Isoplus achieved remarkable success, drawing runners from across Indonesia and beyond to participate in one of Semarang’s most celebrated sporting events.

The high demand led to online registration filling up within minutes, reflecting the race’s popularity. The event also provided a grand prize for a total of 424 million Rupiah.

Approximately 70% of runners came from outside Semarang, boosting local tourism as hotels, restaurants, and businesses thrived with increased activity.

The event’s impact extended beyond the race, with the inclusion of local small businesses and categories for young athletes to encourage youth participation.

Many runners achieved personal records, enjoying a scenic route through historic sites like Kota Lama, Lawang Sewu, and Gedangan Catholic Church.

Supported by Kompas and Wings Group, the Semarang 10K has strengthened its role in promoting a healthy lifestyle and local economic growth.


Preparations and Official Launch Semarang 10K 2024

On the 30th of October 2024, the Semarang 10K run officially launched and is now in the preparations step of the marathon event.

Hevearita hopes that people’s enthusiasm for these events keeps increasing

“With thorough preparation, we hope this year’s Semarang 10K will be more lively and able to boost Semarang’s economy,” Hevearita said.

The organizers of the Semarang 10K have invested extensive planning and resources to ensure a safe and memorable experience for all participants.

The Semarang City Government and Kompas are coordinating logistical details, including traffic management, safety measures, and additional facilities along the race route.

With everything set up the Semarang 10K promises to be more than just a race, it’s a celebration of fitness, community, and local culture that brings Semarang to life.

Terje is from Norway and has been living in Indonesia for over 20-years. He first came to Indonesia as a child and after earning his degree in Business Administration from the University of Agder in Norway, he moved to Indonesia in 1993, where he has worked in leading positions in education and the fitness/ wellness industries all over Indonesia including Jakarta, Banjarmasin, Medan and Bali.

He was Co-owner and CEO of the Paradise Property Group for 10-years and led the company to great success. He is now Co-owner/ Founder and Director of Seven Stones Indonesia offering market entry services for foreign investors, legal advice, sourcing of investments and in particular real estate investments. He has a soft spot for eco-friendly and socially sustainable projects and investments, while his personal business strengths are in property law, tourism trends, macroeconomics, Indonesian government and regulations. His personal interests are in sport, adventure, history and spiritual experiences.

Ridwan Jasin Zachrie

Ridwan is one of Indonesia’s top executives with a long and illustrious career in the financial world. He holds several professional certifications including being a Certified Business Valuer (CBV) issued by the Australian Academy of Finance and Management; Broker-Dealer Representative (WPPE); and The Directorship Certification for Directors and Commissioners, issued by the Indonesian Institute of Commissioners and Directors.

Per Fredrik Ecker

Managing Director of Seven Stones Indonesia, Jakarta

Per is the Managing Director of the Seven Stones Indonesia (SSI) Jakarta office and has more than 25-years’ experience in Indonesia, China, and Western Europe. He previously worked in senior management positions with Q-Free ASA, Siemens AG, and other companies in the telecom sector. Over the last six years, he has been the Chairman of the Indonesia-Norway Business Council (INBC) and recently become elected to be on the board of EuroCham Indonesia.

His most recent experience is within Intelligent Transport Solutions (ITS), Telecom, and other sectors within the Indonesian market. He is today through his position in SSI and by representing Norway Connect, promoting Nordic and European companies that would like to explore business opportunities in the Indonesian market. He’s also playing an active role to help create the Nordic House concept in Jakarta that will provide an excellent platform for Nordic companies entering Indonesia, where they’ll find a community that can offer support with trusted information and affordable services to enter this market.
