Jetski World Championships Return to Lake Toba

Local news wires, including Antara News, are reporting that Acting InJourney President Director, Maya Watono announced at a press conference via Youtube, Thursday (31/10/24) that Lake Toba will once again be hosting the Aquabike Jetski World Championship 2024 from November 13 to 17 in four districts around Lake Toba: Karo Regency, Dairi Regency, Simalungun Regency, and Samosir Regency.

To support the Aquabike Jetski World Championship 2024, various other events will also be held, such as the Solu Bolon Rowing Competition.

Antara News explain that Solu Bolon is a large ship that used to only be owned by important people with the status of kings and had great influence on the community in a village in the Lake Toba area and is one of the traditions of North Sumatra.

“The existence of the Solu Bolon competition is to continue to preserve the traditions of the people around Lake Toba, and at the same time, introduce them to the international world. That way, more tourists will be interested in coming to the Lake Toba area,” Watono said, adding that, among other things, the 2024 Aquabike Jetski World Championship is being held to develop and promote Lake Toba as one of the 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP).

“Of course, the success of the international championship requires support from all parties,” he said.

The 2024 Aquabike Jetski World Championship is being held by InJourney in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the North Sumatra Provincial Government and four local governments where the event was held, says Antara News.

“This international championship is certainly expected to increase the promotion of Lake Toba in the eyes of the world and spark the growth of tourist movement in the region,” he said.

This is the second time the 2024 Aquabike Jetski World Championship is being hosted in Lake Toba and is expected to have a significant impact on increasing tourist visits to the Lake Toba area, says Antara News.

“This means that with the international championship, it will further raise the tourism potential of Lake Toba to be more global. Last year there were 150,000 visitors, and we hope this year it can increase even more,” he said.

Ridwan is one of Indonesia’s top executives with a long and illustrious career in the financial world. Per is the Managing Director of the Seven Stones Indonesia (SSI) Jakarta office and has more than 25-years’ experience in Indonesia, China, and Western Europe.
