According to reporting from Antara News, Indonesia’s Vice President, Ma’ruf Amin, emphasized that Indonesia is keen to contribute to world peace and is committed to supporting all initiatives to achieve the goal.
“Indonesia supports every initiative that contributes to the realization of global peace and justice, as it has been mandated by our constitution and is in the DNA of our foreign policy,” Amin stated, as observed online by Antara News on Sunday (4/2/24.)
The vice president’s remarks were conveyed before the delegates attending the 2024 Human Fraternity Majlis, taking place on the fifth anniversary of the Document on Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together is a joint statement signed by Pope Francis of the Catholic Church and Grand Imam Al-Azhar Ahmad Al Tayyeb on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi. The document is concerned with how different faiths can live in harmony in the world, say Antara News.
Amin said that the global community ought to unite to overcome global challenges, while peace, humanity, and brotherhood among nations are urgently needed to address conflicts, wars, and rivalry currently plaguing the world, adding that a breakthrough is needed to awaken the spirit of peace, humanity, and brotherhood among nations.
“We hope that the awarding of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity will be one of the breakthroughs,” the vice president said, referring to the award bestowed on the agenda.
Antara News reports that the Indonesian government also lauded the Emirati authority and the organizing committee for the 2024 Human Fraternity Majlis.
Among the officials observing the vice president’s remarks were Emirati Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Secretary General of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity Hakim Mohamed Abdelsalam, members of the board of judges, and award recipients.
