Tempo are reporting on the Sail Tidore Expo 2022, which was officially launched on Thursday on Tugulufa Beach, Tidore City Islands, North Maluku.
Zulkifli Hasan, Trade Minister, stated on Saturday that the event is an effort to maintain the economy, especially in the Eastern islands, so that it remains stable.
“We hope that the success of Sail Tidore 2022 can become a stepping stone to boost economic growth and accelerate development in North Maluku,” he added, which is why the Trade Ministry is trying to promote Tidore’s potential to investors and tourists, he said.
At least 32-ministries and agencies, with cooperation from State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and private businesses, have worked together for the success of the Sail Tidore 2022 event, he added.
“We have carried out various programs, including infrastructure improvements, community empowerment in the tourism industry, counseling and assistance to small industries, product promotion, business forums, health services, and improvement of tree vegetation so that access and the environment are better,” the Minister said.
Director general of national export development (PEN) at the Trade Ministry, Didi Sumedi, officially opened Sail Tidore Expo 2022 on Thursday on Tugulufa Beach, Tidore City Islands, North Maluku.
The expo is taking place from November 24 to 29, 2022, and has been joined by 90-small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The event is featuring several attractions, competitions, art performances, underwater photo competitions, and business forums, besides healthy gymnastics activities, rowing competitions, social services, and camps for scouts from all over Indonesia, report Tempo.
At the peak event of Sail Tidore on Saturday, guests and visitors, including several ministers, observed a marine display conducted by the Indonesian Navy in collaboration with the Air Force, the Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and traditional fishermen.
Meanwhile, in mid-June 2022, deputy for regional development at the National Development Planning Ministry/Bappenas (National Development Planning Agency), Rudy Soeprihadi Prawiradinata, had said that for the eastern Indonesia region, the government is targeting economic growth of 5.7 to 6.5-percent this year and poverty rate of 10.97-percent.
For the western Indonesian region, the economic growth target has been set in the range of 4.99 to 5.68-percent.
