AirAsia Announces Free Seats Promo for International Travel

According to reporting from Tempo, AirAsia, is offering 15 million free seats as part of a promotional campaign kicking off this year. This cost-effective flight promotion for international routes will be available for purchase from February 15 to February 23, 2025.

“The travel period for these free seats extends from July 1, 2025, to June 15, 2026,” announced Eddy Krismeidi, Head of Indonesia Affairs and Policy for AirAsia Indonesia, during the launch of the free seat and RedRun promotion at GBK Jakarta on Friday (14/2/25.)

This first promotion of 2025 reflects the airline’s commitment to supporting Indonesian tourism by facilitating travel for international visitors. Tempo says that tourists can access this offer through the AirAsia website and mobile application, covering all AirAsia group international routes, including AirAsia Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines.

According to data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia welcomed 13.7 million foreign tourists in 2024. AirAsia Indonesia has contributed to this tourism growth by expanding its international route network. Throughout 2024, the airline transported over 4.5 million international passengers to and from Indonesia, including 1.2 million foreign tourists whose primary destination was Indonesia.

This commitment aligns with national efforts to bolster Indonesia’s tourism competitiveness globally. In 2024, AirAsia added seven new international routes, including Jakarta-Kota Kinabalu, Jakarta-Bandar Seri Begawan, Bali-Kota Kinabalu, Bali-Phuket, Bali-Cairns, Bali-Hong Kong, and Jakarta-Hong Kong, says Tempo.

Eddy added that AirAsia Indonesia will introduce five new international routes in 2025, primarily focusing on the regions of Australia and India. “This is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its flight network across the Asia-Pacific region,” Eddy explained.

These new routes include service to two major Australian destinations: Denpasar-Darwin, launching on March 22, 2025, and Denpasar-Adelaide, scheduled to open in mid-year. To support these five new routes, Eddy confirmed that AirAsia Indonesia will add five aircraft to its fleet, bringing the total to 30 aircraft and strengthening the airline’s capacity for the year.
