Japanese property developer Mitsubishi Estate will build a residential and mixed-use tower complex in Jakarta featuring one of Indonesia’s tallest skyscrapers under plans detailed Thursday (1/8/24,) according to reporting from Nikkei Asia.
The Two Sudirman Jakarta project consists of a 74-story tower about 330 meters high and a 65-story tower around 270 meters tall. At an estimated cost of more than 50 billion yen (USD 332 million), construction is slated to be completed in 2028.
The towers will serve as new landmarks in the Southeast Asian country’s capital. State-backed Indonesian pension fund Taspen is a partner.
Nikkei Asia says that the 74-story tower will house office and commercial facilities, as well as an Andaz hotel; a chain under Hyatt. The 65-story building will have mainly residential space.
Two Sudirman Jakarta will sit close to the Dukuh Atas subway station operated by Jakarta’s Mass Rapid Transit. The stop is part of Indonesia’s first subway system, which opened several years ago.
The tower project “is in a very strategic location with a large number of public transport connections,” said Yasuaki Oda, head of Mitsubishi Estate’s Indonesian unit. The group plans to collaborate in the redevelopment of the area around the station, Oda said.
Mitsubishi Estate began operations in Indonesia in 2016, and the company has built the country’s first foreign-owned outlet mall, according to Nikkei Asia.
