29 Countries Compete in This Year’s Oceanman Asian Championship in Bali

This year’s Oceanman Asian Championship will be held at the InterContinental Bali Resort, Jimbaran on July 7, 8 and 9 and is expected to draw around 700-participants from 29-countries, including Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Columbia, Spain, Argentina, America, Portugal, France, Australia, Thailand, India, Japan, Taiwan, China, and host Indonesia, according to reporting from Detik.

This event is an international level open water swimming competition, which this year will be held over three days instead of two.

Events will cover 10K, 5K, 2K, Kids 1K, and additional Relay/ Team numbers, as well as Inspirational numbers for participants with disabilities. In addition, prize money was given to Overall Champions in the Oceanman 10K, Half Oceanman 5K and Sprint 2K categories.

Olympians and Founders of the event, Albert C Sutanto and Felix C Sutanto said that “we are ready in all aspects, from permits, participant registration, location, to technical implementation,” report Detik.

The event organizers are Millennium Aquatic and Avatara Lintas Media with the intention of making it more than just an arena for open water swimming competitions, but will also as an attraction for participants and tourists who come to experience the hospitality of the open water swimming community from various countries while enjoying the attractions, products and various activities wrapped up in the UMKM festival, report Detik.

“Apart from the MSME product bazaar, food and beverage booths, fun games interspersed with various performances and live music shows, the Oceanman Asian Championship Bali Indonesia 2023 is an attractive alternative entertainment option for families,” said Felix and Albert.

There is a lot of enthusiasm for the event according to Jose Luis Larrosa, Managing Director of Oceanman International, because Bali has cultural attractions, with nature and the character of calm waves so it is very attractive for participants and international tourists, say Detik.

This year, Bank Mandiri is again the main sponsor. “Our involvement in supporting the holding of the Oceanman Asian Championship Bali Indonesia 2023 is Bank Mandiri’s commitment to support the development of open water swimming competition activities and also support Indonesian tourism, of course,” said Bank Mandiri Corporate Secretary Rudi As Tataridha.

According to Detik, InterContinental Bali Resort, Atlas Beach Club, FINIS/ Indo Swim Gear, GOERS, Stark, SuperO2, ISOPLUS, Jolt, Webuy Buah Kita, Koja Container Terminal, Citilink, Colorful outdoor media, Biznet, LSPR Bali, Cozylila, Gladiator, Aerospace, PT Mustika Sarana Maju and local MSMEs are also enthusiastically supporting the event along with several media partners including Trans7, Media Group, Metro TV, Media Indonesia, medcom.id, SEA Today, VINDES,tiknews.id, Ludus and Radio Bali United FM.

The 2023 Bali Indonesia Ocean Asian Championship helps to market Indonesian tourist destinations so that they receive support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

“With the higher level Oceanman Asian Championship Bali Indonesia 2023, we are optimistic that this year’s Oceanman will provide the best contribution for open water sports enthusiasts and at the same time become a routine international sports tourism agenda that Indonesia can rely on now and in the future” Albert and Felix said.

Ridwan is one of Indonesia’s top executives with a long and illustrious career in the financial world. Per is the Managing Director of the Seven Stones Indonesia (SSI) Jakarta office and has more than 25-years’ experience in Indonesia, China, and Western Europe. He previously worked in senior management positions with Q-Free ASA, Siemens AG, and other companies in the telecom sector. Over the last six years, he has been the Chairman of the Indonesia-Norway Business Council (INBC) and recently become elected to be on the board of EuroCham Indonesia.

His most recent experience is within Intelligent Transport Solutions (ITS), Telecom, and other sectors within the Indonesian market. He is today through his position in SSI and by representing Norway Connect, promoting Nordic and European companies that would like to explore business opportunities in the Indonesian market. He’s also playing an active role to help create the Nordic House concept in Jakarta that will provide an excellent platform for Nordic companies entering Indonesia, where they’ll find a community that can offer support with trusted information and affordable services to enter this market.
