Indonesia Returns To Travel News Market, Sweden

IndoNews are reporting on Indonesia’s return to the Travel News Market 2022, the largest tourism exhibition in Sweden, which was held in the city of Stockholm. The event is one of the most prestigious events for the tourism industry and a gathering place for business people and stakeholders in the tourism sector, not only in Sweden but also in the Nordic region.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Stockholm, Kamapradipta Isnomo, said “Travel News Market provides an excellent opportunity for Indonesia to meet directly with key stakeholders in the tourism industry, as well as an opportunity to strengthen the branding of Indonesian destinations in the Swedish and regional public,” report IndoNews.

The participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm this year is focused on offering various destinations that are the main segments of tourists from Sweden, namely premium class hospitality and special tourism packages, such as cultural experiences, eco-tourism, and a healthy lifestyle.

Ambassador Kamapradipta hopes that Indonesia’s participation this year will be able to encourage an increase in the number of Swedish tourist visits to Indonesia, especially to accelerate the recovery of the tourism sector after the Covid-19 pandemic. To support this, the Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm has also reopened visa services for foreign tourists since early November 2022.

“With the reduced impact of the pandemic and the loosening of health protocols in various countries, Swedish tourists seem very enthusiastic about seeking information to spend holidays in tropical areas, such as Indonesia, with its natural beauty as well as its cultural diversity and uniqueness,” said Ambassador Kamapradipta.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Swedish tourist visits to Indonesia continued to increase, from 51,000-people in 2018 to 56,000-people in 2019. In fact, during the 2020 pandemic, there were 17,000-Swedish tourists who continued to visit Indonesia.

This year, the number of Swedish tourist visits to Indonesia in the second quarter showed a sharp increase of 287-percent compared to the first quarter. The number of visits is expected to continue to increase in line with the increasingly open tourist visa policy.

This year’s Indonesian booth performed lively and received considerable attention from the visitors thanks to the Bracelet Dadas Dance performed by the Svensk Indonesiska dance group Bagusföreningen from the city of Malmö, say IndoNews.

In addition, the Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm also partners with local Swedish and European travel agents, Asien Paradisresor and Ominatra Travel, to provide visitors with various information on Indonesian tourism destinations.

This year’s Travel News Market exhibition was attended by more than 120-business players in the tourism sector and countries from all over the world. Since the opening of registration, the Indonesian booth has received many meeting requests with local travel agents, print and online tourism media and airlines to ask about the latest situation in Indonesia and explore cooperative relationships.

“Indonesia will continue to strive for a presence in the Travel News Market, including next year and the years to come, to maintain momentum and increase the presence of Indonesian destination brands. This is very important to capture this unique and potential market share,” said Ambassador Kamapradipta.
