Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a successful sting operation on Tuesday evening, June 2, 2026, resulting in the arrest of Ronald Arman Abdullah, the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office.
According to reports from Antara News, the anti-graft agency executed the raid in connection with alleged corruption regarding foreign nationals seeking employment and residency documentation.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo clarified that the corrupt scheme centered around the processing of both permanent and temporary stay visas.
“As we know, for a foreign national to live in Indonesia, there’s a KITAP, a permanent residence permit, and there’s also a temporary KITAS,” he stated at the KPK Building in South Jakarta.
Aside from targeting the immigration chief, the sweep was extensive. Budi noted that a dozen other individuals were also detained during the sting operation. Furthermore, high-value assets were confiscated by investigators at the scene.
“The seized evidence included vehicles, cars, motorcycles, and cash, foreign currency (USD and SGD), and gold bullion,” he confirmed.
With the investigation actively moving forward, the KPK legal team is working to uncover the full scope of the alleged corruption case. This raid marks the commission’s 11th sting operation of 2026.
Under Indonesia’s Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), investigators now have a strict 24-hour window from the time of the arrest to officially determine the suspect’s legal status.
