Indonesia Tourism Statistics 2025: 10 Priority Destinations to Watch

Indonesia Tourism

Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism has released its “2025 Tourism Statistics Infographic”, providing a detailed look at tourism performance across 10 Priority Destinations and three Regenerative Destinations.

Rather than focusing only on visitor numbers, the publication provides a broader picture of tourism development at the destination level, including investment, employment, length of stay, and economic contribution.

According to Bayu Aji, Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, reliable and up-to-date data is essential for making tourism policy based on evidence rather than assumptions. Accurate data also allows the government to design more targeted programs and measure their impact on local economies.

The statistics were compiled by the Ministry’s Data and Information Bureau in collaboration with **Statistics Indonesia (BPS)** and the **Ministry of Investment/BKPM**. The cooperation is intended to maintain consistent data standards that can be used at both national and regional levels.

Indonesia’s 10 Priority Tourism Destinations

The 2025 publication covers the following Priority Destinations:

1. Lake Toba – North Sumatra
2. Borobudur–Yogyakarta–Prambanan – Central Java
3. Lombok–Gili Tramena – West Nusa Tenggara
4. Labuan Bajo – East Nusa Tenggara
5. Manado–Likupang – North Sulawesi
6. Wakatobi – Southeast Sulawesi
7. Raja Ampat – Southwest Papua
8. Bromo–Tengger–Semeru – East Java
9. Bangka Belitung
10. Morotai – North Maluku

Bali and Jakarta Stand Out

Another statistic shows that the three Regenerative Destinations are Bali, Greater Jakarta, and the Riau Islands

The figures provide some useful insight into the scale of tourism activity in Indonesia’s major destinations.

Bali recorded 7.04 million international visitors in 2025, with visitors staying an average of nine nights. Tourism investment in the province reached Rp16.05 trillion during the year.

Greater Jakarta recorded Rp23.74 trillion in tourism investment and approximately 293 million domestic visits, highlighting the very different dynamics of Indonesia’s domestic and international tourism markets.

One of the more useful aspects of the publication is its broader approach to measuring tourism performance.

The infographic tracks 8 key indicators, covering areas such as:

* Visitor numbers
* Average length of stay
* Investment realization
* Employment
* Regional GDP from accommodation and food services

This gives policymakers, businesses, and investors a more complete picture of how tourism contributes to the local economy.

For Bali in particular, the data provides more than a headline visitor figure. It helps show how tourism translates into investment, employment, business activity, and economic value — important indicators as Indonesia moves toward a more sustainable and data-driven tourism model.
