Multiple Entry Visa Trial in Riau Being Launched

Tribun Batam are reporting that the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights will launch the Multiple Travel Visit Visas (VKBP) in the Riau Islands as a pilot project for Multiple Entry Visas.

The re-opening of the VKBP will be tested as a form of government support through Immigration for global business people, potential foreign investors, and world billionaires with large capital, so that they can easily go back and forth to Indonesia.

“This is clear evidence of the convenience provided by the government through immigration for business people with high mobility which will have a significant impact on Indonesia’s economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years,” said Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad, according to Tribun Batam.

According to Governor Ansar’s statement, this government policy is designed to accelerate investment in Indonesia, especially in the Riau Islands Province and follows a previous meeting with the Governor and the Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna Laoly.

At that meeting, Governor Ansar requested that the Riau Islands be able to expand Visa on Arrival or VoA facilities from 19-countries to 43-countries or more, like before the COVID-19, in the hope of returning to a pre-pandemic situation.

The Governor expressed his gratitude, especially to Indonesian President Joko Widodo for the policy of implementing VKBP through the Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights.

“Of course we are very grateful for this policy. And thanks to the President, especially for us in the Riau Islands. This policy has been highly anticipated by the people of the Riau Islands. This means that our proposal was heard and accepted by the central government,” he said.

In addition, Ansar also expressed his gratitude to the Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko and the Head of BNPB RI, who some time ago paid a working visit to the Riau Islands. Through the two Ministers, the Governor returned to follow up on the issue of the VoA proposal in question.
