Speaking in Jakarta on Wednesday (6/11/24), Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Pratikno, said that learning entrepreneurship management could help the youth create new job opportunities, according to reporting from Antara News.
“Entrepreneurship is an important part of our curriculum, so it must be taught early, as it can be one of the solutions to create job opportunities,” he said.
According to Pratikno, based on a ministry survey, the most common problem the younger generation faces is difficulty finding a job.
In addition, the young generation is faced with technological disruptions and challenging national economic conditions.
“We are also facing many technological disruptions, global economic slowdowns, and so on. Therefore, (learning) entrepreneurship management is important (for the younger generation),” he said.
Antara News reports that Pratikno will collaborate with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to make entrepreneurship a subject taught from an early age.
“We will follow up with the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education and universities so that entrepreneurship becomes an important part of our curriculum,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pijar Foundation Executive Director Ferro Ferizka confirmed that job opportunities are shrinking. Many high school and college graduates are still unemployed, reports Antara News.
One of the reasons for this, according to him, is technological advancement, which is leading to companies giving preference to using machines over employing people.
“Technology is advancing, and now people are no longer needed. Think about it, where should all these people turn without job opportunities,” Ferizka said.
According to him, this problem can be solved if government policies that favor workers are in line with innovations to build a better Indonesia, says Antara News.
