Global Times are reporting that after 11-days of shipping, the first batch of high-speed bullet trains for the new Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway (HSR) arrived in Jakarta on Thursday.
The Chinese-made trains departed from Qingdao Port in East China’s Shandong Province on August 21. The plan is to transport them to Bandung by road, with the rest scheduled to be shipped in batches by early 2023, according to Global Times.
The bullet trains that will be used for the Jakarta-Bandung HSR project include 11-sets of high-speed electric multiple units (EMUs) and one comprehensive testing train, according to a statement previously sent from China Railway to the Global Times.
According to local media reports, the second batch will include three sets of EMUs and is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on December 25. The third batch with three EMUs will arrive on February 25, 2023, and the fourth batch with three EMUs will arrive on March 15, 2023.
The railway is projected to accommodate 30,000-passengers every day. Each train can accommodate 601-passengers, media reports said, and there will be four stations on the Jakarta-Bandung HSR: Halim Station, Karawang Station, Padalarang Station, and Tegalluar Station.
The Jakarta-Bandung HSR is a landmark project under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). And it is also the first high-speed railway project launched overseas that fully uses Chinese technology, standards and equipment.
The railway and trains are also adapted to the local operational environment and are in line with conditions in Indonesia.
The railway project is expected to be completed in June 2023, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
