The excitement surrounding MotoGP Mandalika 2025 is reaching new heights, with organizers confirming that 90% of tickets are already sold. The race, scheduled for October 3–5 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok, marks the fourth time Indonesia hosts the world-class motorcycle racing series.
According to the official MotoGP Mandalika website, nearly all categories of tickets have sold out, from the most affordable USD 25 passes to premium options such as VIP Deluxe Class at USD 930 and VIP Luxury Tent at USD 480. This surge in demand underscores the strong enthusiasm of Indonesian fans and highlights the growing role of sport tourism in the national economy.
Minister of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) Erick Thohir emphasized that the MotoGP Mandalika event highlights Indonesia’s success in developing sports-based tourism.
“Ticket sales are almost sold out, already at 90%. This is a positive sign for Indonesia’s sport tourism,” Erick said, as reported by Kemenpora.
He added that the government prioritizes sport tourism because it delivers a double impact: strengthening Indonesia’s presence in the global sports arena while boosting both national and regional economies.
The 2025 edition is projected to generate nearly USD 298 million in economic impact, benefiting local businesses, hotels, transport, and small enterprises in Lombok and beyond.
The influx of international fans underscores Mandalika’s rise as a global sport tourism hub, contributing not only to revenue but also to Indonesia’s branding on the world stage.
Absence of Jorge Martin
Despite the excitement, the 2025 Mandalika series will miss a key figure: defending world champion Jorge Martin, who also won last year’s Mandalika main race. Aprilia confirmed that Martin recently underwent surgery for a fractured right collarbone sustained at Motegi in October 2024.
The Italian manufacturer announced that it will not assign a replacement for the Mandalika round, leaving Marco Bezzecchi as their sole representative. Martin is also expected to miss the Australian and Malaysian GPs, with potential future substitutions depending on his recovery progress.
VR46 Riders Aim to Break the “Mandalika Curse”
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team enters the Mandalika round with high hopes. Riders Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Diggia) are determined to claim their first podium finish at the Lombok circuit after years of near misses.
“The track is beautiful, with an incredible layout, but it’s also very hot and physically demanding. That’s what makes it so challenging—and so exciting,” Morbidelli said at a special team livery launch in Jakarta, as reported by Berita Satu.
Morbidelli’s best result at Mandalika so far is a fourth-place finish in 2024, while Diggia also secured fourth in 2023. Both believe 2025 could finally be their year, with improved preparation and a strong VR46 package.
Diggia, who currently sits seventh in the standings, stressed that consistency and fitness will be key: “Podium is our target, but what matters most is minimizing mistakes,” he said.
