The Jakarta Provincial Government is set to host Eco Future Fest (JEFF) 2025: Rethink, Reuse, Recreate, on September 25–26 at Cibis Park, South Jakarta. Initiated by the Jakarta Environment Agency (DLH) in collaboration with CNN Indonesia, the two-day festival aims to be a strategic platform for green innovation, recycling, and sustainable business initiatives.
Under the leadership of Governor Pramono Anung, the provincial government seeks to engage the public in building a greener and more sustainable Jakarta. The event will bring together environmental activists, academics, community groups, public figures, and influencers to share ideas and inspire action.
JEFF 2025 will feature a mix of exhibitions, workshops, and interactive activities designed to raise awareness and encourage sustainable lifestyles. Highlights of the program include:
- Talk Shows and Workshops: Environmental activists, academics, and influencers will lead discussions and hands-on workshops, such as “Bersih-bersih Lemari” (Closet Clean-up), which teaches participants how to extend the life of clothing through upcycling, creative repair, and education on the impact of fashion waste.
- Garden of Waste: An art installation transforming discarded materials into a visually stunning garden, showing how waste can be reimagined into creativity.
- Trash to Treasure: Visitors can exchange plastic and paper waste for eco-friendly products or shopping vouchers, a tangible way to demonstrate that waste still holds value.
- Eco Market: A creative marketplace featuring leading MSMEs, green startups, and premium recycled products—from eco-friendly fashion and healthy cuisine to innovative green technologies.
- VR Experience & Showcase: Interactive virtual reality content from We The Future Academy and community groups, giving visitors a new way to connect with environmental themes.
- Entertainment: A treasure hunt with prizes, along with performances by local musicians to keep the festival lively and engaging.
Ahead of the event, the Jakarta Environment Agency conducted a public awareness initiative on Thursday by spraying 4,000 liters of water mist across several key city areas—including Dukuh Atas, TB Simatupang, Fatmawati, Bundaran HI, MH Thamrin, and Lapangan Banteng. The effort aimed to reduce air pollution and remind residents of the importance of cleaner air.
“Air pollution remains a major challenge for Jakarta. Through this water mist initiative, we aim to reduce pollutant concentrations while reminding residents about the importance of maintaining air quality,” said DLH Head Asep Kuswanto, as quoted by Bisnis Update.
According to Kuswanto, the initiative specifically helps reduce fine particulate matter (PM2.5), contributing to healthier public spaces. Mobile video screens were also deployed to broadcast educational messages on pollution control, encouraging citizens to conduct regular vehicle emissions tests and shift to public transportation.
“The participation of residents, businesses, and communities is crucial in building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Jakarta,” he added.
With its blend of education, creativity, and entertainment, JEFF 2025 is expected to become not just a festival, but also a momentum for collective environmental action.
“JEFF 2025 will be a platform for learning, inspiration, and celebrating eco-friendly lifestyles,” Kuswanto emphasized.
