Labuan Bajo continues to expand its tourism offerings beyond its iconic marine destinations with the launch of Komodo All Terrains Vehicle (ATV)—the first land-based adventure experience in the area.
Located in Nggorang Village, Komodo District, Manggarai Barat Regency, the Komodo ATV attraction was officially inaugurated on Sunday, May 25, 2025, by Manggarai Barat Regent Edistasius Endi.
Komodo ATV features 30 four-wheeled vehicles designed to navigate various terrains such as soil, sand, grass, and gravel roads. Each unit comes equipped with a seat for the driver and handlebars for steering, offering visitors a thrilling and hands-on way to explore Labuan Bajo’s inland landscapes.
Two tour packages are available:
- Short Ride (1 hour): approximately USD 19, with an additional USD 3 for a tandem passenger
- Long Ride (2.5 hours): approximately USD 38, plus USD 3 for an extra rider
Included in each package are essential safety gear—such as helmets and boots—and photo/video documentation provided by the Komodo ATV crew. The adventure route takes visitors through riversides, rice paddies, village settlements, and narrow trails across Nggorang Village.
During the launch event, Regent Edistasius Endi expressed his appreciation for the initiative, saying that Komodo ATV contributes to the growth of Labuan Bajo’s tourism sector.
“When people think of Labuan Bajo, they shouldn’t only think about the sea. The land has great potential too and one day, people will visit Labuan Bajo not just for the ocean but also because of the ATV experience,” he said, as quoted by radarflores.com.
He also encouraged the public to maintain a safe and welcoming environment, emphasizing that hospitality is an essential part of the tourism experience.
Meanwhile, Komodo ATV Director Fery Agames explained that the idea for Komodo ATV stemmed from a desire to create a new and unique adventure tourism option in an area rich in natural beauty, cultural heritage, and warmth.
“We want to offer a recreational alternative for tourists and local residents while also helping to grow the local economy and tourism sector,” he said.
Fery added that Labuan Bajo is more than just a tourist destination—it is a home to incredible potential that should be showcased and developed together.
“The presence of Komodo ATV is our small contribution toward developing the tourism sector and creating new job opportunities for local youth,” he continued, as quoted by voxntt.com.
He expressed gratitude to the local government, police, community leaders, and all partners who supported the project from the start. Fery hopes Komodo ATV will become a new tourism icon for land-based experiences in Labuan Bajo and a source of pride for the Manggarai Barat community.
The launch event was also attended by Vinsensius Jemadu, Deputy for Tourism Products and Events at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, as well as the Manggarai Barat Police Chief, military and navy officials, local village heads, and community figures.
With Komodo ATV now in operation, Labuan Bajo moves closer to becoming a more complete destination—offering not only stunning marine adventures but also exciting land-based activities for travelers seeking a different kind of thrill in Indonesia.
