Jakarta Parks to Open 24 Hours

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung’s proposal to keep public parks open 24 hours a day has received support from the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI Jakarta).

Members of Commission A of the DPRD DKI Jakarta, M. Fu’adi Luthfi and Hilda Kusuma Dewi, believe this policy will bring significant benefits to the public.

With parks open 24 hours, Jakarta residents can maximize these green spaces for social interaction, education, and recreation. Additionally, this initiative is also expected to generate positive social and economic impacts.

“I fully support the governor’s plan to open public parks for Jakarta residents 24 hours a day,” said Fu’adi.

He also recommended that parks be equipped with additional facilities, such as libraries, sports areas, and children’s playgrounds, to maximize their function as community hubs.

Hilda added that keeping parks open around the clock could foster greater social interaction and improve public access to green spaces in Jakarta.

Strengthening Regulations and Supervision

Fu’adi emphasized the importance of preparing comprehensive regulations to ensure safety and comfort for visitors. With no closing hours, strict guidelines must be established to regulate permitted and prohibited activities in these public spaces.

“Clear regulations should be set regarding what activities are allowed and what are not within park areas,” Fu’adi explained, as quoted from dprd-dkijakartaprov.go.id.

He also highlighted the need for close coordination between Commission A of DPRD DKI Jakarta, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and relevant agencies to ensure continuous monitoring of these 24-hour parks.

“Supervision is essential to ensure that parks truly benefit the community rather than being misused for inappropriate activities,” he added.

Supporting Fu’adi’s statement, Hilda stressed the importance of proper policy implementation and suggested that the government establish clear rules on nighttime activities in public parks.

To enhance security, she proposed installing CCTV cameras, improving lighting, and conducting regular patrols by law enforcement. Periodic evaluations should also be conducted to identify potential misuse of public spaces.

Community Involvement in Park Security

As the Chairman of the Jakarta Federation of Barongsai Sports (FOBI DKI Jakarta), Hilda encouraged active community participation in maintaining order. She suggested forming resident forums that collaborate with local authorities to help oversee park safety.

“We want to ensure that public safety remains a priority. Therefore, there must be synergy between the Jakarta Provincial Government, security forces, and community members,” Hilda emphasized, as reported by telusur.co.id.

With strong regulations and community involvement, the 24-hour park initiative is expected to create a more inclusive, productive, safe, and comfortable public space for all Jakarta residents.
