IDN Times are reporting updates to Bali’s efforts to improve the island’s infrastructure ahead of the upcoming G20 Meeting, scheduled for November.
The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, reviewed the implementation of infrastructure improvements for parking area arrangements for heads of state participating in the G20 Summit – specifically those projects at the Siligita-Kempinski Showcase Mangrove Road, and the Ngurah Rai Tahura Mangrove Area.
According to Basuki, works are slated to be completed by the end of July and we’re currently looking at 39.6 percent competition.
The parking area for the Heads of State is on an area of 2.6-hectares, not far from the Ngurah Rai Tahura Mangrove Area and will include the construction of a Candi Bentar Gate, temple arrangement, Security Guard Post, Bale Bengong Gazebo, limousine parking with a capacity of 256-units, public facilities, panel rooms, canteens, water tanks, and emergency vehicle parking.
The PUPR Ministry has also arranged the Ngurah Rai Tahura Mangrove Area around the Muara Nusa Dua Reservoir area to be used as a mangrove showcase, which will include the construction of an entrance gate, a G20 Monument, plaza area, beji, wantilan, mangrove tracking path, nursery area, receiving area (lobby, ticketing, receiving office), viewing tower, viewing deck towards Benoa Bay and the parking area around the Muara Reservoir.
Road and bridge improvements are also underway under two packages;
Package I consists of roads and bridge work in 7 sections with a total length of 22-kilometres. These are
- Pesanggaran – Benoa Gate;
- Kuta – Pesanggaran;
- Kuta – Tugu Ngurah Rai;
- Airport – Tugu Ngurah Rai;
- Tugu Ngurah Rai – Nusa Dua;
- Pesanggaran – Sanur;
- Jimbaran – Uluwatu (GWK), and Pesanggaran – Sanur (Sarangan)
Package II is an enlargement of the Siligita – Kempinski road and a 6.5-kilometre long mangrove showcase. To improve quality and aesthetics, road and bridge preservation works are accompanied by beautification and/ or reforestation.
