Special Task Force Launched to Accelerate Prabowo’s Economic Program

The Indonesian government has established a special team to accelerate the execution of priority programs while ensuring smoother cooperation with the private sector. The team will not only oversee the progress of President Prabowo Subianto’s main initiatives but also act as a forum to address business complaints on a weekly basis.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the team is designed to prevent stagnation in government programs and to speed up problem-solving in the field.

“Basically, we will link all of the government’s main programs directly to President Prabowo. Going forward, there should be no more bottlenecks, and if there are, we will accelerate so that everything runs smoothly,” Purbaya said during a press conference at the Presidential Office on September 15, 2025, as quoted by MetroTV News.

He emphasized that the team will serve as a channel for entrepreneurs to submit their concerns. Reports will be collected and discussed weekly to support continuous policy evaluation.

Removing Barriers for Private Sector Growth

The government hopes this new mechanism will significantly reduce, or even eliminate, obstacles faced by private companies. Purbaya highlighted the team’s dual role as both supervisor and problem-solver.

“With this team, all barriers in the private sector can be removed significantly, allowing private growth to move in tandem with the government’s growth engine. The team will oversee all of President Prabowo’s main programs so that they do not stall. If something gets stuck, we will accelerate it,” said Purbaya.

He also underscored that the team would act much like previous government working groups, but with stronger integration.

“We will receive reports from business players, and we will deliberate on them every week. This is similar to the Pokja 4 in the past,” he added, according to Kontan.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that the team will be co-chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and the Coordinating Minister for Food. Key deputy chairs will include the Finance Minister, the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM, and the Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas).

Economic Stimulus 8+4+5: Jobs and Growth

The government has launched the 8+4+5 economic stimulus package to boost employment, purchasing power, and economic growth, according to the Presidential Communication Office (PCO).

Senior PCO expert Fithra Faisal said the plan also protects gig workers such as online motorcycle taxi drivers.

“Drivers received considerable concern from the President, and this package ensures their welfare,” he said on September 16, 2025, as reported by Detik.

The measures include BPJS premium discounts, internships for 20,000 graduates (USD 215 monthly stipend), cash-for-work projects, food aid for 18.3 million families, and expanded tax relief for tourism workers. In total, the package allocates USD 458 million for food aid and USD 346 million for cash-for-work programs, targeting 5.2% growth by end-2025.

Eight Priority Programs for 2025
1. University Graduate Internship Program – USD 12.9 million
2. PPh 21 Tax Relief for Tourism Workers – USD 7.8 million
3. Food Assistance – USD 458 million
4. BPJS Premium Subsidy for drivers, couriers, logistics – USD 2.3 million
5. Housing Benefits via BPJS Employment – USD 9.8 million
6. Cash-for-Work Projects (Transportation & Public Works) – USD 346 million
7. Deregulation & OSS Digital Integration – USD 11.4 million
8. Urban Pilot Project in Jakarta (housing & gig economy) – USD 176 million

In total, the government launched eight new programs for 2025, will extend four programs into 2026, and has introduced five employment absorption initiatives. These include the Village Cooperative Merah Putih, expected to employ over one million people, and the Merah Putih Fishermen Village, targeting 200,000 jobs.

Together, the special team’s oversight and the 8+4+5 stimulus package are positioned as the backbone of President Prabowo’s strategy to sustain economic momentum, empower businesses, and generate employment opportunities nationwide.
