My Chemical Romance Is Finally Coming Back to Jakarta in 2026

It’s the announcement emo fans in Indonesia have been waiting over a decade for: My Chemical Romance is officially returning to Jakarta in 2026.

Who Is My Chemical Romance?

Formed in New Jersey in 2001, My Chemical Romance (MCR) rose to fame as one of the most influential alternative rock bands of the 2000s. Their blend of emo, punk, and theatrical rock defined a generation and gave us timeless anthems like Helena, I’m Not Okay (I Promise), and Welcome to the Black Parade.

The band is fronted by Gerard Way, whose haunting vocals and vivid storytelling became the band’s signature. He’s joined by Ray Toro on lead guitar, Frank Iero on rhythm guitar, and Mikey Way, Gerard’s younger brother, on bass. Together, their chemistry and emotional intensity built a fanbase that continues to grow—long after their 2013 breakup and beyond their 2019 reunion.

MCR last performed in Jakarta in 2011, and their return has been eagerly anticipated ever since. Their 2013 breakup left fans wondering if they’d ever see the band live again. But after a surprise reunion in 2019 and a successful international tour in 2022, hopes began to rise. And now, those hopes have been confirmed.

MCR isn’t just a band. it’s a piece of home. Whether you discovered them as a teen in the U.S., U.K., Australia, or elsewhere, their music carries deep emotional ties. Their return gives longtime fans a rare chance to relive the energy. It brings back the eyeliner and the anthems. And this time, it all happens in the heart of Jakarta.

Remembering Bob Bryar

As we celebrate the band’s long-awaited return, it’s impossible not to think of Bob Bryar, MCR’s longtime drummer during their most iconic era Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and The Black Parade.

Bob’s drumming gave the band its heartbeat. His thunderous rhythms, precision, and stage presence helped define MCR’s live sound at the height of their rise. He officially left the band in 2010 and stepped away from the public eye. To fans, he remained part of the legacy. He was one of the five who marched us into the Black Parade.

Bob Bryar passed away in early 2024. The MCR community deeply felt his loss. They still honor his contribution to the band’s history. His music continues to touch the lives of many.

As MCR tours the world again, including this upcoming Jakarta show, many will carry Bob’s memory with them. His spirit felt in every beat, every breakdown, every chorus screamed into the night.

This is more than a concert. It’s a reunion of a global community that never stopped believing in the band that told us it’s okay not to be okay.

Don’t miss out on one of 2026’s most anticipated shows. Get your tickets early, grab your black parade gear, and prepare to scream your heart out.
