As Ramadan approaches, Indonesia has announced temporary adjustments to immigration office hours nationwide. The changes are designed to ensure public services remain accessible while aligning with the government’s revised working schedule during the fasting month.
The Directorate General of Immigration, under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, will implement the updated hours throughout Ramadan 2026, following guidance from the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform. The revised schedule applies to immigration offices across Indonesia, including passport services and residence permit processing.
Ramadan 2026 Immigration Service Hours
During Ramadan, immigration offices will operate under three time arrangements:
- Monday–Thursday: 08:00–15:00 local time (break 12:00–12:30)
- Friday: 08:00–15:30 local time (break 11:30–12:30)
- Saturday–Sunday (Weekend Passport Units): 08:00–14:00 local time (break 12:00–12:30)
The adjustments affect passport applications, visa services, stay permit processing, and other immigration-related matters handled at local offices nationwide.
Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman emphasized that service continuity remains a priority during the holy month.
“We ensure that immigration services continue to operate optimally during Ramadan. The adjustment of service hours is carried out to respect and facilitate both the public and employees who are observing the fast, so that work activities and worship can be carried out properly,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (February 18, 2026), as quoted by Bloomberg.
Check with Your Local Immigration Office
Although the new schedule applies nationally, residents and foreign nationals are advised to confirm specific operating hours with their local immigration office. Certain service units — including Public Service Malls, Immigration Work Units (UKK), Passport Service Units (ULP), and Immigration Lounges — may implement additional adjustments in accordance with local policies.
Updated schedules are typically published on the official social media accounts of each immigration office. Verifying details in advance is particularly important for time-sensitive matters such as visa extensions, stay permit renewals, or passport issuance.
The temporary schedule underscores the importance of planning immigration-related appointments carefully during Ramadan. While services remain fully operational, shorter daily hours could result in higher demand and longer processing queues.
By checking schedules early and preparing complete documentation, applicants can help ensure a smoother immigration process throughout the fasting month.
