World of Coffee 2025: Brewing in Jakarta, May 15–17

Indonesia is set to make history as the first Southeast Asian country to host the prestigious World of Coffee (WOC) 2025, a global coffee exhibition that will take place from May 15 to 17, 2025, at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).

Organized by Exporum Korea in partnership with the Specialty Coffee Association of Indonesia (SCAI) and Dyandra Promosindo, this landmark event is expected to draw over 30,000 visitors from across the globe and feature more than 300 exhibitors from five countries, including local coffee farmers, exporters, roasters, and café suppliers.

“I’m confident that World of Coffee 2025 in Jakarta will be a significant stepping stone for Indonesia’s coffee industry and a platform to expand the global coffee community,” said Kangmin Kim of Exporum Korea during a press conference on May 8, as reported by kumparan.com.

As the world’s fourth-largest coffee producer, Indonesia boasts a rich variety of high-quality beans. Hosting this global coffee expo is seen as a strategic opportunity to showcase the nation’s coffee excellence on the world stage.

“We’ve waited 10 years for this event. World of Coffee is usually held in consumer countries. This is the first time it’s being brought to a coffee-producing nation,” said Daryanto Witarsa, Chairman of SCAI, as quoted by kontan.co.id.

Unique Highlights at World of Coffee Jakarta 2025

The Jakarta edition of World of Coffee will offer several exclusive features not found at other WOC events. These include:

  • Nusantara Pavilion, a dedicated space for local governments to showcase their regional specialty coffees.
  • Farmers Village, an area that highlights Indonesian coffee farmers, with 35–40 expected to participate.
  • Origin Trip, a VIP program allowing sponsors and exhibitors to tour one of Indonesia’s top coffee plantations.

“We can present something different here. We have many farmers who can be featured in the Producer Village, and we’ll bring the feel of a coffee farm directly to the venue,” added Daryanto, as quoted by detikcom.

Celebrating Coffee Culture and Competitions

Besides exhibitions, World of Coffee 2025 Jakarta will feature a variety of engaging programs such as SCA Lecture Series, Cupping Rooms, Brew Bars, and the highly anticipated World Brewers Cup Championship. The competition will showcase the skills of 50 top baristas from around the world—including standout Indonesian talents.

One such talent is Mikael Jasin, the 2024 World Barista Champion, and Ryan Wibawa, who placed third in the 2024 World Brewers Cup in Chicago. Ryan emphasized the rise of barista skills in Indonesia, noting how the profession has become increasingly respected among the youth.

“Compared to 2011, more young people now aspire to become baristas. You could say Indonesian baristas are now on par with those from other countries,” said Ryan Wibawa at the press conference in West Jakarta.
