According to a press release on the website of The President of The Republic of Indonesia, President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to the principle of a free and active foreign policy. This affirmation was conveyed by the President in his speech at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025 at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Center, St. Petersburg, Russia, on Friday (20/6/25.)
“We have always adhered to and will continue to uphold the non-aligned policy,” said the President.
In the global economic forum, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of peaceful collaboration and economic cooperation between countries amid rising tensions in the world. The President also expressed appreciation to Russia for its support in the completion of a comprehensive economic cooperation agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union.
“We thank Russia for its support in achieving the Indonesia-Eurasian Union CEPA. We have also completed negotiations with the CPTPP and the European Union, and are currently applying for OECD membership,” said the Head of State.
In addition, President Prabowo underlined the importance of peaceful global cooperation amidst the shrinking borders between nations in the era of globalization. “We will work together for peaceful collaboration, peaceful coexistence with all countries,” he said.
Responding to the global geopolitical situation, especially in the Middle East, the President expressed concern over the escalating conflict there. The Head of State hopes that the situation can ease and a peaceful solution can be realized soon.
“We deeply regret the escalation and conflict around the world, especially in the Middle East. And we hope that all parties can reach a peaceful resolution as soon as possible,” the President concluded.
