Prabowo Aims to Boost Indonesian Football  

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated sixteen renovated stadiums and one brand-new stadium in various regions of Indonesia from Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium in Sidoarjo District, East Java, on Monday (17/3/25,) according to reporting from Antara News, who add that between 2023 and 2024, the Ministry of Public Works utilized a budget of IDR 1.74 trillion (approximately USD 106.2 million) to work on the following stadiums:

  1. Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium in Palembang City, South Sumatra;
  2. Indomilk Arena Stadium in Tangerang District, Banten;
  3. Pakansari Stadium in Bogor District, West Java;
  4. Wibawa Mukti Stadium in Bekasi District, West Java;
  5. Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium in Bekasi City, West Java;
  6. Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium in Bandung City, West Java;
  7. Maguwoharjo Stadium in Sleman District, Yogyakarta;
  8. Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang City, Central Java;
  9. Gelora Bumi Kartini Stadium in Jepara District, Central Java;
  10. Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang District, East Java;
  11. Surajaya Stadium in Lamongan District, East Java;
  12. Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium in Sidoarjo District, East Java;
  13. Gelora Madura Ratu Pamelingan Stadium in Pamekasan District, East Java;
  14. Joko Samudro Stadium in Gresik District, East Java;
  15. Demang Lehman Stadium in Banjar District, South Kalimantan;
  16. Segiri Stadium in Samarinda City, East Kalimantan;
  17. J. Habibie Stadium in Parepare City, South Sulawesi.

 

Several ministers and deputy ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, as well as officials from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), accompanied the president during the simultaneous inaugurations, says Antara News, including Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, State-owned Enterprises Minister and PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo, and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa.

In a related story, Tempo is reporting that the President is counting on the Indonesian national team to enter the 2026 World Cup. “I am committed. I support our national football. Indonesia must enter the World Cup,” he said. According to Tempo, the president is also striving to push for various policies to advance Indonesian football. “We will streamline all regulations, simplify, and improve the legal instruments. Assist PSSI’s efforts to form a strong national team,” he said.

The Indonesian national team currently awaits the next matches for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Indonesia will face Australia, Bahrain, China, and Japan in Group C.

Ridwan Jasin Zachrie

Ridwan is one of Indonesia’s top executives with a long and illustrious career in the financial world. He holds several professional certifications including being a Certified Business Valuer (CBV) issued by the Australian Academy of Finance and Management; Broker-Dealer Representative (WPPE); and The Directorship Certification for Directors and Commissioners, issued by the Indonesian Institute of Commissioners and Directors.

His experience includes being the Managing Director at one of the top investment banking groups in the region, the Recapital Group, the CFO at State-owned enterprises in fishery industry and the CEO at Tanri Abeng & Son Holding. He’s also been an Independent Commissioner in several Financial Service companies and on the Audit and Risk Committee at Bank BTPN Tbk, Berau Coal Energy Tbk, Aetra Air Jakarta as well as working for Citibank, Bank Mandiri and HSBC. His last position was as CFO at PT Citra Putra Mandiri – OSO Group.

Per is the Managing Director of the Seven Stones Indonesia (SSI) Jakarta office and has more than 25-years’ experience in Indonesia, China, and Western Europe. He previously worked in senior management positions with Q-Free ASA, Siemens AG, and other companies in the telecom sector. Over the last six years, he has been the Chairman of the Indonesia-Norway Business Council (INBC) and recently become elected to be on the board of EuroCham Indonesia.
