July 2025 Events You Shouldn’t Miss

Events in Indonesia this July offer a vibrant mix of culture, music, sport, and unexpected curiosities. From jazz performances beneath the ancient towers of Prambanan Temple to a gathering of UFO enthusiasts in the hills of Central Java, the month is packed with unique experiences. Whether you are looking to explore heritage festivals, join a colorful community run, or simply witness something out of the ordinary, July presents a rich and diverse calendar worth marking.

Music Events: Prambanan Jazz Festival 2025

Date: July 5-7

Location: Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta

Imagine world-class jazz echoing through the ancient stones of a 9th-century Hindu temple. That’s the magic of the Prambanan Jazz Festival. The lineup this year features both local legends and international acts, set against one of the most breathtaking backdrops in Southeast Asia. Headliners include Tulus, eaJ Park (formerly of DAY6), Kahitna, Ardhito Pramono, and many more.

Sport: The Color Run Jakarta Event

Date: July 14

Location: Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta

Dubbed “The Happiest 5K on the Planet,” The Color Run returns to Jakarta this July. Expect a vibrant explosion of color, music, and energy as participants jog through clouds of eco-friendly powder paint. It’s untimed, family-friendly, and perfect whether you’re a seasoned runner or just want to walk and soak in the joy.

Culture: Festival Krakatau 2025

Date: July 20–27

Location: Bandar Lampung, Lampung

Named after the legendary volcanic island, Festival Krakatau celebrates Lampung’s cultural richness. Think traditional dances, culinary showcases, and a grand parade—plus stunning coastal scenery. It’s a great reason to explore Sumatra’s southern gem beyond its famous waves.

Culture: Pacu Jalur Festival (Rayon IV)

Date: July 18-20

Location: Tepian Datuak Bandaro Lelo Budi, Kuantan Singingi, Riau

The traditional boat race is back in the spotlight! With jalur crews racing to a roar of drums and cheers. It’s part of a gateway to Indonesian heritage, famously recognized in the Nusantara Event Calendar. Don’t miss the “Tukang Tari” kids, viral TikTok sensations whose energetic dances “aura farm” swept the internet.

Unusual & Unmissable Events: UFO Festival 2025

Date: July 26–28

Location: Slawi, Central Java

Yes, you read that right. Indonesia has its very own UFO Festival and it’s delightfully serious. Held by a community of UFO believers in Tegal Regency, this event mixes panel discussions, sky-watching sessions, and alien-themed cosplay. We once interviewed the organizers: they genuinely believe we’re not alone. Whether you’re a skeptic or a secret fan of The X-Files, this one’s worth the trip.

Wherever you are in Indonesia this July, step out of your usual weekend routine and dive into something new. Be it jazz beneath the stars or a sprint through rainbow powder. Who knows, you might even spot something in the sky.
