Jakarta Celebrates Christmas 2025 with Caroling and Festivities

Jakarta is celebrating Christmas 2025 with a series of vibrant public events that combine music, festive decorations, and religious observances across the capital. One of the key highlights is the Christmas Carol Colossal Vol. 2, taking place on Tuesday evening, December 23, along the pedestrian area in front of FX Sudirman. Organized by the Jakarta Provincial Government, the open-air event is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. local time.

Based on information shared through the administration’s official social media channels, the FX Sudirman performance brings together approximately 1,200 singers performing simultaneously. The large-scale caroling event is designed to create a festive atmosphere in the city center, encouraging the public to gather and enjoy the Christmas season in a lively urban setting.

The event forms part of a broader Christmas Carol Colossal program held at multiple locations across Jakarta until December 23. In total, around 100 performers are appearing at 10 public spaces, including Bundaran HI, Sarinah, Taman Literasi, Terowongan Kendal, and various locations across Jakarta’s five administrative regions. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the initiative aims to activate public spaces while sharing the spirit of Christmas with the wider community.

The festive mood is also reflected at Jakarta City Hall, where Christmas decorations have been installed about a week ahead of the holiday. Red and green floral arrangements, gold lantern ornaments, and large ribbons now decorate the building’s terraces and pillars. All floral elements use live plants placed in pots to maintain freshness throughout the celebration period.

Beyond government venues, Christmas decorations including large Christmas trees are visible across major lifestyle and commercial districts in the capital, such as SCBD Senayan, Pacific Place Mall, and Tribeca Park at Central Park Mall. These locations have become popular spots for visitors looking to enjoy the festive ambiance as December 25 approaches.

Jakarta’s Christmas program also includes a variety of supporting events, such as the Jakarta Light Festival at Bundaran HI from December 23 to 27, and a Christmas Market at Blok M Hub running from December 20 to 31, Social outreach visits and church visits are also included in the official holiday agenda.
