Indonesia has officially launched its first-ever Campus Immigration Point at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) Semarang, marking a significant step toward improving access to immigration services for academic communities and strengthening international mobility.
Located on the first floor of Muladi Dome (Exhibition Plaza Blocks O and M), the Campus Immigration Point provides five core services for both Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals involved in UNDIP’s academic programs:
- Passport issuance and renewal
- Residence permits (ITAS/ITAP)
- Visa and immigration consultation
- Reporting services for foreign students and researchers
- Immigration education and outreach
The unit was designed to make immigration processing faster, easier, and more accessible for students, lecturers, researchers, and visitors on campus.
Operational Hours and Capacity
The new facility operates using a structured system supported by digital registration through the M-Paspor app.
“It operates daily from 08.00 to 16.00 WIB and accommodates online passport applications with a maximum of 150 submissions per day through the M-Paspor application,” said Central Java Immigration Regional Office Head Haryono Agus Setiawan, as quoted by Kompas.
The capacity ensures predictable service flow and reduces congestion typically seen in city-based immigration offices.
UNDIP hosts an expanding international community—about 300 foreign students—and sends hundreds of Indonesian students abroad each year. Rector Professor Suharnomo emphasized that the new service directly supports these growing mobility needs.
The campus-based unit is expected to bolster UNDIP’s double-degree programs, student exchanges, joint research, and international partnerships by providing smoother access to passports, residence permits, and immigration guidance.
How to Access the Campus Immigration Point
According to the Central Java Immigration Office (imigrasijateng), the process involves two simple steps:
- Register online through the official form: https://forms.gle/cctMRZsDq9kSt9PD8
- Arrive at the scheduled appointment with complete original documents and a USD 0.60 stamp duty (materai).
The appointment-based system streamlines the process by reducing queues and ensuring timely, orderly service for all applicants. As Indonesia’s first Campus Immigration Point, the facility significantly expands access to key immigration services directly within UNDIP, allowing students, lecturers, and researchers to manage passports, permits, and consultations without traveling off-campus. This convenience cuts administrative burdens and saves time, enabling the academic community to focus on their studies and research.
The unit also enhances supervision of foreign nationals on campus and supports Indonesia’s push for stronger international education, helping facilitate global exchanges, research collaborations, and student mobility programs. As the first model of its kind, the UNDIP Campus Immigration Point is expected to serve as a national pilot, with potential replication at other major universities across Indonesia.
