Head of Indonesia’s National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, has said that more than 1.9 million vehicles were recorded leaving Jakarta as of Tuesday (1/4/25,) as part of the 2025 Eid al-Fitr exodus, according to reporting from Antara News
“Based on data received from (state toll road operator) PT Jasa Marga, the total volume of traffic out of Jakarta from ten days before (D-10) Eid al-Fitr, March 21, at 6 a.m. until D+1, April 1, at 6 a.m., totals 1,963,152 vehicles,” he said in a statement released on Tuesday (2/4/25.)
Antara News says the figure is based on counts conducted at the four main toll gates: Cikampek Utama, Kalihurip Utama, Ciawi, and Cikupa. The number reflects an increase of 25.5 percent compared to normal traffic levels. It is also 0.5 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous year.
PT Jasa Marga reported that the number of vehicles leaving Jakarta in the direction of the Trans Jawa Toll Road via the GT Cikampek Utama gate stood at 726,565, reflecting a 139.1 percent increase from normal.
Meanwhile, the number of vehicles heading toward Merak, Banten, through GT Cikupa on the Tangerang-Merak toll road reached 491,987, down 38 percent compared to the 2024 exodus period.
Meanwhile, 368,924 vehicles exited Jakarta through GT Kalihurip Utama in the direction of Bandung, an increase of 3.3 percent compared to normal. The figure is 3.2 percent higher than the same period last year.
The Police Traffic Corps also reported that the peak of the exodus occurred on March 28, 2025, or D-3 of Eid al-Fitr. On that day, 258,000 vehicles left Jakarta, an increase of 63.1 percent compared to normal and 11.6 percent higher than the previous year’s Eid exodus period.
