The Directorate General of Immigration has set an all-time record for Non-Tax State Revenue, reaching 520 million USD, surpassing its target of 367 million USD by an impressive 142%.
This milestone outperformed last year’s record of 464 million USD as of December 31, 2023.
Acting Director General of Immigration, Saffar Muhammad Godam, attributed the largest PNBP contribution to visa services, which generated 293 million USD.
This was followed by passport services at 140 million USD and other immigration services at 85 million USD.
“This achievement reflects the public’s growing trust in immigration services that are increasingly innovative and efficient,” Godam stated, as quoted by JatimNetwork.com on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Key Achievements in Immigration Services
Between January 1 and December 15, 2024, 4,838,581 passports were issued, contributing approximately 27% of the total PNBP. Meanwhile, 5,162,775 visas were issued, broken down as follows:
- Visa on Arrival: 4,635,858 (89% of all visas issued)
- Single-Entry Visit Visa: 420,529
- Multiple-Entry Visit Visa: 43,292
- Limited Stay Visa: 62,630
- Golden Visa: 471 (since its launch), bringing in investments worth Rp9 trillion.
Significant growth was also recorded in stay permits. The Directorate issued 9.3 million visit stay permits, a 31-fold increase from the previous year. Limited Stay Permits (ITAS) rose by 40% to 259,944, while Permanent Stay Permits (ITAP) tripled to 6,437, as reported by Surabaya.net.
The top countries with the highest stay permit holders in Indonesia were:
- Australia: 1.5 million
- China: 1.2 million
- Malaysia: 819,000
- Singapore: 646,000
- India: 630,000
Increased Border Crossings
During the same period, Indonesia recorded 46,735,310 border crossings, comprising:
- Indonesian Citizens (WNI): 22,181,808 (10,933,028 arrivals and 11,248,780 departures)
- Foreign Nationals (WNA): 24,553,502 (12,377,929 arrivals and 12,175,573 departures)
These crossings were made via air (36,753,657), sea (8,237,837), and land (1,743,816) routes.
Enhanced Oversight and Digital Transformation
The Directorate General of Immigration conducted 5,047 immigration administrative actions, a 150% increase from the previous year. It also barred 9,978 foreigners from entering Indonesia (up 49%) and prevented 1,379 individuals from leaving the country (up 27%).
“Major cases, such as the arrest of international fugitives and cybercrime perpetrators from various countries, demonstrate the government’s commitment to maintaining national security,” Godam added.
To streamline services, digital innovations like e-passports are now available at 13 immigration offices and 22 Indonesian embassies worldwide. Additionally, the evisa.imigrasi.go.id platform enables online applications for stay permits without requiring physical visits.
The Immigration Directorate has also introduced Immigration Lounges in major shopping malls and autogates at international airports, accessible to children as young as six and foreigners with electronic passports.
Looking Ahead
With 133 immigration offices and 265 patrol vehicles, the Directorate is well-equipped to face future challenges. International cooperation has been strengthened through 21 domestic agreements, two bilateral agreements, and four multilateral partnerships.
The record-breaking PNBP achievement, the implementation of the Golden Visa program, and advancements in digital services highlight Indonesia’s commitment to global transformation.
“The Directorate General of Immigration remains dedicated to enhancing public services through innovation, transparency, and global collaboration. These efforts are expected to promote safe and efficient international mobility,” Godam concluded.
