AirAsia to Reduce Ticket Prices for Christmas and New Year

In a written statement released on Sunday (1/12/24,) AirAsia’s CEO, Veranita Yosephine announced on December 1, 2024, that AirAsia Indonesia Airline (IAA/QZ) is giving its full support for the government’s policy to lower airplane tickets for domestic flights during the Christmas and New Year Holiday (Nataru) period from December 19, 2024, to January 3, 2025, according to reporting from Tempo.

“Indonesia AirAsia fully supports the government’s directive to create more affordable air transportation, especially during important moments like the Christmas and New Year holidays,” she said.

Veranita is optimistic that the implemented measures can help the public access more affordable flight services while contributing to increased mobility and growth in the domestic tourism sector.

According to Veranita, this step is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction, which aims to help the public reduce travel expenses while supporting the recovery of the tourism sector and creative economy in Indonesia, says Tempo.

“This step is expected to lower air travel costs, in line with the government’s projection targeting a 10 percent reduction in airplane ticket prices,” said Veranita.

She said that the reduction includes various components of ticket costs such as fuel surcharge, Passenger Service Charge (PJP2U), landing services, and other supporting components.

Veranita added that AirAsia Indonesia remains committed to ensuring the implementation of this airplane ticket price reduction policy without compromising the quality of service, focusing on flight safety and comfort.

In addition to promoting ticket affordability, Veranita said AirAsia Indonesia also welcomes intensive coordination with stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of this policy, according to Tempo, saying that “Indonesia AirAsia believes that a solid collaboration among stakeholders will strengthen the positive impact of this policy on the public and the aviation industry.”
