Antara News are reporting that the Jakarta provincial government is committed to growing the country’s film industry through the 3rd Jakarta Film Week from October 25 – 29, head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office, Andhika Permata, said here on Tuesday.
The 3rd Jakarta Film Week will take place in a number of locations, including CGV Grand Indonesia, Kineforum in the Taman Ismail Marzuki Park, Galeri Indonesia Kaya, and Hotel Ashley on Jalan Wahid Hasyim.
“This year, we are proud to hold the Jakarta Film Week again. This is Jakarta’s commitment to supporting the development of art and culture for film activists, filmmakers, and the entire film industry ecosystem to grow,” Permata said.
According to him, this year’s film week will align with Jakarta’s mission of bolstering the creative economy sector. Permata said that his side is providing full support for the event since most film industry players reside in Jakarta, say Antara News.
“The Jakarta Film Week is a forum for the Jakarta film ecosystem, one of the creative economy sub-sectors, to continue to exist. Through this platform, we bring films from overseas to appreciate and learn from them,” he said.
The event also helps present domestic films to increase Indonesian filmmakers’ experience and competence, he added.
Permata said he hoped that the annual event will keep developing as the film industry can support tourism growth.
“Film is closely related to tourism and the creative economy. It can move or mobilize people through tourism. We are always ready to support Jakarta Film Week and hopefully, our filmmakers will never lose their enthusiasm,” he added.
Themed “Evolve,” this year’s film week will seek to portray the development of the film industry and film festivals since the pandemic.
