Bali Ranks #2 As The Most World’s Popular Tourist Destination

According to a recent article published by Tempo, Indonesia has received world recognition, with Bali winning a world-class award from TripAdvisor in its annual Travelers’ Choice Award for Destinations.

Bali moved up two places to rank as the second most popular global destination in 2023, beating London in third place and Paris in fifth place. Sandiaga Uno, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, said that the awards prove that the Island of the Gods was still at the top of mind in the tourism sector.

TripAdvisors Travelers’ Choice Award for Destinations has several assessment indicators based on the quality and quantity of reviews from November 2021 to October 2022. In addition to global rankings, there are sub-categories of accommodation, restaurants and a variety of other interests around the tourist attraction, say Tempo.

According to Sandiaga, this ranking shows that Bali is not inferior in offering tourist attractions as the quality of the tourist destination is considered world-class.

“Therefore, if any Indonesian attends to travel to heal, why bother going abroad? Going to Bali is enough to enjoy healing, improve the feeling as well as refresh, which won’t put the money down the drain, let alone have a headache,” said Sandiaga.

The hope, said Sandiaga, is that other archipelago tourist destinations besides Bali can become popular destinations for tourists, including foreigners. “We hope the tourist destinations in Indonesia can claim the first place in the world’s popular destinations in the following years,” he said.

The following is the ranking of the top 10 most popular destinations in the world for 2023 according to TripAdvisor:

1. Dubai, United Arab Emirates

2. Bali, Indonesia

3. London, England

4. Rome, Italy

5. Paris, France

6. Cancun, Mexico

7. Crete, Greece

8. Marrakech, Morocco

9. Dominican Republic

10. Istanbul, Turkey
